This article is intended to provide additional guidance regarding stacking funds between LA GATOR and the Tuition Donation Tax Credit (TDC) Program.
Due to SB 27 (Act 403), signed into law on June 20, 2025, the LA GATOR Scholarship Program is stackable with the Tuition Donation Tax Credit (TDC) Program. The school tuition organizations participating in the Tuition Donation Credit Program include:
- ACE Scholarships Louisiana
- Arete Scholars Louisiana
- Aspiring Scholars Louisiana
- Son of a Saint Louisiana
If your student is awarded an LA GATOR and Student Tuition Organization (STO) scholarship, you must:
- Apply LA GATOR funds to the tuition and fees first.
- Cover any remaining tuition and mandatory fees using the TDC scholarship funds, not to exceed the actual tuition and mandatory fees at the qualified school.
If the LA GATOR award exceeds the tuition and mandatory fees set by the school, you must:
- Decline the Student Tuition Organization (STO) scholarship
Important Note: If families use their LA GATOR funds for anything other than tuition, their total award amount of LA GATOR and TDC/STO funds will still be limited by law to actual tuition and mandatory fees. Families are responsible for any remaining tuition and fee balance.
Additional Information:
- Each STO award cannot exceed 80%-90% of the state average MFP.
- Families are responsible for any remaining tuition and fee balance after all scholarship funds have been applied.
